Jesse Thompson is a queer, Melbourne-based artist whose intimate oil portraits explore themes of loss, healing, and resilience.
Her practice emerged from a deeply personal journey following the passing of her mother, where painting became both a source of solace and self-discovery. Through this process, Jesse found a profound sense of connection and renewal, transforming her grief into works that capture the raw beauty of life and human vulnerability.
Her love of portraiture centres on elevating the stories of her subjects and the connections she forms with them. From commissioned pieces to inspired personal works, Jesse’s art spans vibrant colours, striking monochromatic tones, and expressive loose sketches - each reflecting her exploration of emotion and identity.
